Party Hostels in Lima

Lima’s nightlife doesn’t shut down when the sun goes down: it ramps up. Barranco is the district that draws the crowds, with its mix of dimly lit bars and late-night clubs. Bisarro, a two-storey club on Avenida Grau, is where the dance floor fills by midnight and doesn’t empty until sunrise. The music leans electronic, with local DJs spinning everything from techno to cumbia, and the crowd is a mix of backpackers and Lima’s young professionals.

Hostels here are just as lively. Dragonfly Hostel and The Point pack in travellers with cheap drinks, organised bar crawls, and a social vibe that starts in the common room and spills into the streets. Most party hostels sit within walking distance of Barranco’s main drag, so you’re never more than ten minutes from the next bar or club.

Which Area Should You Stay In?

How Lima's nightlife zones break down

Barranco

Barranco is Lima’s bohemian district, packed with street art, colonial houses, and a nightlife scene that runs until sunrise. Avenida Grau and Avenida San Martín are the main strips, lined with bars, clubs, and cheap eats. It’s where most backpackers stay, thanks to its mix of hostels and late-night venues.

Best for: Nightlife and backpacker hostels

Miraflores

Miraflores is more upscale than Barranco but still has a solid nightlife scene. Avenida Larco is the main drag, with clubs, bars, and restaurants catering to tourists and young professionals. It’s safer and cleaner than Barranco but pricier. The Point Hostel is here, along with Club Love and other late-night spots.

Best for: Mid-range bars and tourist-friendly clubs

Centro

Lima’s historic centre is where you’ll find grand plazas, colonial architecture, and a few late-night bars. It’s not as lively as Barranco or Miraflores, but it’s worth a visit for the daytime sights. Nightlife is limited to a handful of peñas (live music venues) and a few dive bars. Stay here if you want history, not parties.

Best for: Daytime sightseeing and cultural spots

Bars and Clubs in Lima

Where the hostel pub crawls end up, and where to go on your own

Bisarro

A two-storey club on Avenida Grau that’s the backbone of Barranco’s nightlife. The ground floor is a bar with cheap beer and cocktails, while the upstairs dance floor plays techno, house, and cumbia. It gets packed after midnight, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. Entry is usually 30–50 PEN (£6–10), which includes a drink.

The Point Hostel Bar

The bar at The Point is where the hostel’s legendary pre-drinks happen. Cheap beer (8 PEN/£1.50), strong cocktails (20 PEN/£4), and a crowd that’s always up for a night out. It’s open to non-guests, but the vibe is strictly backpacker. Expect drinking games, shots, and a mix of reggaeton and pop.

Ayahuasco

A grungy, no-frills bar in Barranco that’s popular with locals and travellers. The music is a mix of rock, punk, and indie, and the crowd is laid-back. Beers cost 10 PEN (£2), and the bar stays open until 3 AM. It’s a good spot to start the night before heading to a club.

La Canta Rana

A tiny, standing-room-only bar in Barranco that’s famous for its pisco sours and ceviche. It’s not a party spot, but it’s the perfect place to start the night with a group. The pisco sours are 20 PEN (£4), and the ceviche is some of the best in Lima. Get there by 8 PM or expect a queue.

Club Love

A late-night club in Miraflores that plays reggaeton, salsa, and Latin pop. The crowd is a mix of locals and tourists, and the dance floor gets packed after 1 AM. Entry is 40 PEN (£8) and includes a drink. It’s a 10-minute walk from The Point Hostel.

Dragonfly Hostel Bar

Dragonfly’s bar is a social hub for backpackers. Cheap beer (8 PEN/£1.50), strong cocktails (18 PEN/£3.50), and a courtyard that fills up by 10 PM. The hostel organises bar crawls most nights, and the bar stays open until 2 AM. Non-guests are welcome, but the crowd is mostly travellers.

Practical Info

🚌
Getting around Lima
Metropolitano buses are the cheapest way to move between districts. A single ride costs 2.50 PEN (about £0.50) and covers most of Miraflores and Barranco. Taxis are everywhere: use Uber or Beat for fixed prices. A ride from Miraflores to Barranco should cost 10–15 PEN (£2–3) and takes 10–15 minutes, depending on traffic.
💰
Budget for drinks
Beer in a hostel bar costs 8–12 PEN (£1.50–2.50). In a club, expect to pay 15–20 PEN (£3–4) for the same bottle. Cocktails in Barranco’s bars start at 20 PEN (£4), but happy hours: usually 6–8 PM: can halve that. Bisarro and other clubs often charge a 30–50 PEN (£6–10) cover, which sometimes includes a drink.
🕒
Nightlife hours
Bars open around 6 PM but don’t get busy until 10 PM. Clubs start filling after midnight and stay open until 4–5 AM. Barranco’s streets are lively until the early hours, but Miraflores winds down earlier. If you’re joining a pub crawl, most meet at 9 PM and run until 3 AM.
🍽️
Eating on the cheap
Street food is everywhere. Try anticuchos (grilled beef heart) for 5 PEN (£1) or a full menu del día for 12–15 PEN (£2.50–3) in local markets. Barranco has cheap eats too: San Antonio Bakery on Avenida San Martín does sandwiches for 10 PEN (£2). Most hostels offer free breakfast, so fill up before heading out.
🚨
Safety tips
Stick to well-lit streets in Barranco and Miraflores. Avoid walking alone late at night in Callao or parts of Centro. Use registered taxis or ride-hailing apps instead of hailing cabs on the street. Keep your phone and wallet secure: pickpocketing happens in crowded bars and clubs.
📅
Best nights out
Wednesday to Saturday are the big nights. Bisarro and most clubs are packed on Fridays and Saturdays, while Wednesdays and Thursdays are cheaper and less crowded. Pub crawls run most nights, but Barranco’s crawl on Fridays is the busiest.
