Faro isn’t just a gateway to the Algarve’s beaches: it’s got a nightlife scene that kicks off early and keeps going until sunrise. The action centres on Rua do Prior and Rua Conselheiro Bívar, two narrow streets packed with bars where backpackers and locals mix over cheap sagres and shots. By midnight, the place is loud, smoky, and exactly what you want after a day on the sand.
The hostel scene is small but social. Most places are within a ten-minute walk of the city centre, so you can roll out of bed and into a bar without missing a beat. Expect sunny courtyards, free bike tours, and staff who know every happy-hour deal in town.

Organised nights out with a local guide
Starts at Café Aliança on Rua do Prior at 10:30 pm. The crawl visits three bars: usually Columbus, The Green Room, and one wildcard: before ending at Urban Sound Club. Tickets include a welcome shot, free entry to the club, and drink discounts at each stop.
How Faro's nightlife zones break down
A maze of cobbled alleys inside the 16th-century walls. The bars here are smaller and pricier, but the setting: under orange trees, next to a cathedral: can’t be beat. Rua do Prior and Rua Conselheiro Bívar are the main strips for bar-hopping.
A 15-minute walk south of the Old Town. The marina itself is quiet, but the streets around it: especially Rua da PSP: are packed with clubs and late-night kebab shops. Pacha Algarve sits at the far end, right on the water.
North of the train station, around Avenida da República. Cheaper student bars and cafés, but the nightlife thins out after midnight. Good for a quiet pint before heading into the centre.
Where the hostel pub crawls end up, and where to go on your own
Faro’s biggest club, tucked under a car park on Rua da PSP. Expect commercial chart hits, reggaeton, and a crowd that’s half backpackers, half locals. The dance floor gets sticky by 1 am. Entry is free before midnight, €7 after: worth it if you’re here on a weekend.
A two-floor bar on Rua Conselheiro Bívar with live football, pool tables, and €2 shots until midnight. The crowd is mostly British and Irish expats, so it’s loud and unpretentious. Gets packed on Fridays when they run a €10 open-bar deal until 11 pm.
A tiny, standing-room-only bar on Rua do Prior. No frills: just €1.50 beers and a counter that fills by 10 pm. The owner, João, keeps a running tab if you’re a regular. Best for a quick pre-club pit stop.
A smaller outpost of the Ibiza brand, 10 minutes’ walk from the marina. House and techno from midnight till 6 am. Dress sharp: door staff turn away flip-flops and vests. Entry is €10–15, but includes a free drink.
A chilled bar on Largo da Sé with board games and €3 cocktails. The crowd is a mix of digital nomads and hostel groups. Happy hour runs 5–8 pm. If you’re not into clubbing, this is where you’ll end up by 2 am anyway.
A nightly crawl that hits three bars and one club. Starts at 10:30 pm outside Café Aliança. Tickets are €12, including a welcome shot, free entry to Urban Sound, and drink discounts. The group is usually 20–30 people: mostly backpackers and stag dos.
